Sarah Midkiff studied studio art and photography at Notre Dame, RIT, ICP, and Southern Illinois University, where she received her MFA. Her work explores communication and gender, confronting the largely unconscious spaces in which reality and language construct each other.

Midkiff has been exhibited nationally, most recently at Candela Gallery in Richmond, VA, and Twilight Gallery, in Seattle, WA. She resides in Richmond, VA, where she teaches photography at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, works as Operations and Media Manager at Zatara Press, and maintains traditional silver gelatin photo booths. She has taught a wide range of image-making classes, including 35mm, medium format and large format film and digital camera technique, silver gelatin printing, color RA-4 printing, alternative processes, advanced digital printing and Photoshop, and flash and continuous studio lighting.
