About

Sarah Midkiff (b. 1982) is a photographer and designer based in Richmond, Va. Her work explores communication and gender, confronting the largely unconscious spaces in which reality and language construct each other. She has exhibited nationally, most recently at Studio Two Three, and The Visual Arts Center, in Richmond, Virginia. Midkiff has taught a wide range of image making classes, at Southern Illinois University, LaGuardia Community College (CUNY), Virginia Commonwealth University and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. In 2017, Midkiff and a team at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond created the world’s largest cyanotype, measuring in at approximately 1500 square feet. Its creation is currently being reviewed by the Guinness Book of World Records. Midkiff is also the owner of Monochromatic, a small label representing artists and designers in the pursuit of hand-made, limited edition goods.
